To the women ruining our players

To the women ruining our players
It’s crazy to think – but one of the most underrated subplots of the overall transformation of a footballer, is in fact, the woman he is seeing. But wait, MilanGuy, how? Ahh, you’d like to hear me elaborate? Let’s take a look at some of the most notable examples…

Andriy Shevchenko’s career was ruined by a woman.
“Unfortunately, Shevchenko was the lapdog of his wife”
If you think you’ve heard this quote before, it’s because you probably have. Silvio Berlusconi uttered these words in an interview a while after Milan lost its golden boy of the early-mid 2000′s to Chelsea. A player who could’ve set a plethora of records at Milan, and gone down as one of the all time greats – unfortunately, the lasting image we have is of a slightly overweight, lethargic, Bogdani-esque striker who was virtually useless in his second spell at Milan. (Some conspiracy theories suggest Chelsea sent us back his identical twin brother Sergei. Hmm, could be).. Anyway, Shevchenko’s wife was the direct culprit of his career turning into a downward spiral, which would taint his legacy forever. She urged Andriy that their children had to grow up speaking English (apparently unaware of the fine International schools located in the heart of Milano). So, Andriy decided to heed her constant cries, and packed his bags for London – a move that would disintegrate a once world class career.

Pato’s career is going to be ruined by a woman.
Pato’s career derailed the second he started dating the billionaire daughter of former Prime Minister and Milan president Silvio Berlusconi. Nevermind constantly attending lavish, formal parties, and being thrust into a world that wasn’t truly his – the real reason Pato’s career began to plummet once he started doing the naughty saudade with Barbara is simple, he lost motivation. How can you be motivated when the woman you’re taking to bed is indirectly responsible for your paychecks? The fire disappeared. Pato suddenly felt invincible, and began lashing out at Allegri in the media, all while looking lethargic and disinterested on the pitch. Also, the supposed €38 million move to PSG was thwarted by young Barbara. Although it was never officially reported in the papers, it seems obvious that she didn’t want to lose her young charming Prince Brasileiro to long distance. Pato now, remains injured, and ineffective. Only time will tell if he’ll ever revert back to the Pato we grew to love, or if his career will ever get back on track so he can truly explode into the superstar he is capable of becoming.

Kevin Prince Boateng isn’t playing because of a woman
The reason why he is always injured is because we have sex 7-10 times a week
No, that’s not a statement from me. It’s Melissa Satta speaking, the girlfriend of Kevin Prince Boateng, who admitted in an interview that their intense frolicking is what caused Boateng’s latest thigh injury. It’s a shame Boateng has been engaging in these heated fornication sessions, because he was quickly becoming one of the world’s most dynamic midfielders when healthy. Perhaps he should study the teachings of former Milan defender (and I say former loosely, as he played 30 minutes one game before getting knocked out cold) Nicola Leggrotaglie, who once claimed that he did not have any sexual intercourse during the football season. While this may seem overly dramatic to some, and a form of punishable torture in some countries, the effectiveness might outweigh the negatives. One has to wonder how differently the outcome of this past weekend’s Milan vs. Lazio match would’ve been had Boateng not succumbed to sexual injury.

Amantino Mancini is currently in jail because of a woman.
Well, that’s not technically her fault — he actually raped a woman at a party hosted by Ronaldinho. Shame on you, Amantino.

Marco Borriello’s career was almost ruined by a woman
As you may or may not remember, Marco Borriello’s career took a brief nosedive as he was suspended for a large period of time in 2007 after testing positive for a drug related substance. Later admitting, albeit very embarrassingly, that the drug was actually a treatment used for the STD he picked up from longtime girlfriend Belen Rodriguez. But wait, that’s not all – Poor Marco proceeded to receive three tapiri d’oro in the subsequent years, and admitting that he was “distracted” during a game vs. Lecce where he had one of his worst showings ever, because he had recently found out that this same woman was having an affair on a reality show called Isola dei famosi.

In the end, the players we look at as consummate professionals seem to have one thing in common for the most part: they are happily married with children. Antonio Cassano’s life/career did a 180 degree turn the second he fell in love and got married. Never again did we see one of his infamous Cassanate after he had a child. However, many players that have had sudden fall offs, or never truly lived up to their potential (such as the examples listed above) could have attributed their drop to the opposite sex. The examples go on and on, feel free to share others.
